I have a question for you to consider today. Are you living your life on purpose and by priority?
Ten years ago I taught my first leadership class at my Church. In it we worked on a life mission statement. The group was challenged to identify what their life mission was. They struggled…….some of them for months. It was interesting in the beginning, they wrote long paragraphs trying to articulate the essence of their life. It looked something like the Constitution of the United States - for fear of leaving something out. But the goal was to boil it down into a few words. One of the attendees boiled his life mission down to one word: Serve
I thought it was a powerful statement!
What have you been called to do? What are the gifts you have been given? What talents do you have? What are the opportunities that are before you?
There is a great book called “Halftime” by Bob Buford. He is a business man and very successful. He got to his 40’s and he had accomplished many things. And yet something was missing. He came to the realization that more stuff didn’t motivate him any longer. There had to be something else……
He had a life changing moment. As a result, He prioritized his life differently and decided to focus on building a legacy, to pour himself into other people, projects, causes that helped others.
So again are you living your life on purpose? Are you living your life by priority? Or is life passing you by quickly?
A study was done of 50 people over the age of 95. They were asked “if you had to live life over again, what would you do differently?” Their answers are interesting……
I would reflect more.
I would risk more.
I would do more things that would live on after I am dead.
What ever your answers are, you might want to start doing them today. You will make a difference in someone’s life!
